Barton Quarter is a collection of new homes in Horwich, part of the Rivington Chase regeneration project.

These remaining 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes benefit from good local amenities and leisure opportunities, and will be of appeal to first-time buyers and families, as well as commuters to Bolton, Chorley, Manchester and Preston.

Horwich lies around six miles to the north-west of Bolton city centre. From junction 6 of the M61, Barton Quarter is about a 10-minute drive away.

Barton Quarter, and Horwich, fall under Bolton Council.

There are several supermarkets within around half a mile of Barton Quarter, and an assortment of local shops and amenities can be found a short walk away. Horwich offers a selection of casual eateries, including Sokrates Taverna, a Greek restaurant that is popular with locals; further shopping and dining choice is provided at Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park, which is situated around two miles from the development.

Approximately 20 minutes’ drive away, Bolton town centre provides a varied retail experience with an array of high street and independent stores located along its main shopping precincts, and within the Market Place and Crompton Place shopping malls. Bolton also boasts a growing restaurant scene, with cuisines ranging from traditional British fare to Indian, Mediterranean and Thai.

Active residents of Barton Quarter will find a variety of sports amenities within easy reach. Horwich Golf Club is under a mile away, as is Horwich Leisure Centre, which provides gym facilities, fitness classes and a swimming pool.

Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park, situated within two miles of the development, incorporates the Bolton Arena sports venue and University of Bolton Stadium, home of the Bolton Wanderers; the park also offers a bowling alley and multiplex cinema for family entertainment.

For relaxed outdoor leisure, Lower Rivington Reservoir is a short drive from Barton Quarter and offers a choice of routes for walking, running or cycling in its verdant surroundings. Liverpool Castle, a scaled replica of a now-destroyed thirteenth century castle in Merseyside, can be found on the eastern bank of the reservoir, alongside a tree-top adventure course and the beautiful Terraced Gardens. For panoramic views over the reservoir, take one of the several paths up to Rivington Pike and the Pike Tower – it’s a local tradition to walk up to the summit on Good Friday, joined by family and friends, and thousands of people participate in the custom each year.

For families with younger children, Barton Quarter benefits from a number of well-regarded primary schools nearby, including several that are situated within a one-mile radius of the development. These include St Mary’s RC, Chorley New Road, St Catherine’s CE and Horwich Parish CE.

The two campuses of Rivington and Blackrod High School are located less than a mile and a half from Barton Quarter. The independent Bolton School, which provides education from nursery age to sixth form level, lies approximately 10 minutes from Horwich by car.

Those wishing to pursue further or higher education will find both Bolton College and University of Bolton within easy reach of the development.

Barton Quarter is well-situated for commuters within Greater Manchester, as it lies approximately 10 minutes’ drive from junction 6 of the M61, which gives access to Preston and the M6 to the north, and the M60 Manchester Outer Ring Road to the south.

Blackrod railway station, located about a mile and a half from the development, provides direct services to destinations including Manchester Victoria, the typical journey time to which is just over half an hour.

For domestic and international travel, Manchester Airport is around 35 minutes’ drive away via the M61 and M60.
